Seafood Lady in Lexington, KY

Seafood Lady has come to Lexington… and she is legit!

Nichelle Thurston, aka Seafood Lady, couldn’t find seafood in the Bluegrass State like she’d become accustomed to while living in Florida. She took matters into her own skilled hands by selling her fresh creations through social media which led to the opening of a food truck. Her food truck was so successful that Nichelle and her husband (also business partner) opened a brick & mortar storefront in Louisville. Then came Guy Fieri and the Food Network’s Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives!

Seafood Lady received high praise from Chef Guy Fieri, and Guy didn’t mince his words. He told Nichelle, “you’re killing it” and “you might be up there in the championship dive joints of Triple D.” But the praise didn’t end there! They’ve received endorsements and reviews from other chefs as well. The Seafood Lady has also been featured on an episode of Kentucky Living on KET and Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs.

After all the high praise and hype we’d heard about, we had to check it out for ourselves! We opted to try a variety of items to get a feel for the whole menu. Our order included Chee-sea Fries (featured on Food Network), Crab Cakes, Fried Catfish, Cajun Jumbo Shrimp, Cornbread Hushpuppies, Lemon Garlic Broccoli, and Cajun Fries. OH MY GOODNESS! The crab cakes were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The Fried Catfish was crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside and the Chee-sea Fries, topped with white cheese sauce and large chunks of snow crab meat over Cajun fries, were delectable. Last but not least, the Cornbread Hushpuppies may be one of the hidden gems on the menu; they were FANTASTIC! Every bite was incredible and we can’t wait to go back and try more!

We recommend calling ahead or going online to place your order, but they will take your order if you walk in. Just plan to wait about 20 minutes to get your food if you don’t order ahead. The Lexington location is pickup-only and does not include a seating area, so everything is packaged to-go. However, you can hop across the street to Douglass Park for a picnic or take it home to enjoy!
