EL CID, located on the corner of S. Limestone and E. Maxwell here in Lexington, roughly translates to “The Master.” But are they really the masters of Mexican food? The Jury was in at EL CID to find out for ourselves!
EL CID is located in the heart of Lexington and within walking distance from the University of Kentucky, several Lexington hospitals and other popular downtown locations. Their menu features authentic and unique Mexican fare as well as creative Tex-Mex options like The Quesa Cone, a guacamole in a fried jalapeno cheese tortilla shaped like an ice cream cone.
Chris Bravo, the Owner is not new to the restaurant industry. His family started out in the restaurant business way back in 1961. They now have restaurants in several Kentucky & Indiana cities.
We started with the Quesa Cone and Chorizoqueso, both of which were delicious! For our entrees we had tried the Quesa-Burrito which was HUGE, a Chimichanga, and Fajita Tacos. Everything we had was FANTASTIC and packed with flavor!
EL CID also offers fantastic food and drink specials for almost every day of the week including lunch deals on several of their most popular items. We ordered online and it was super easy! Just note that EL CID does not have their own dedicated parking lot, so be prepared to use the street parking along Limestone or the side streets. Or, if you have a friend or family member who can help you out, have them drop you off, circle the block and then pick you back up! It may cost you a bite of your Quesa-Burrito, but there’s plenty to share!
So what’s the verdict? Well, with offerings like their foot-long tacos the size of your head and one of most creative Mexican menus in town, we can confidently say that EL CID has mastered their craft!
